Limited Success: Wax

I was refinishing a 2008 Honda Ridgeline and bought a bottle to try. There were many light scratches on the car's clear coat, as well as a few deeper dents. I used an orbital buffer and polish to buff the scratches with very good results. Does Turtle Wax Color Magic work? As a test, I polished the doors and fenders on the driver's side and only used colored wax on the passenger side. I applied the wax according to the directions and stepped back to see and compare the results. The side polished with polish looked great, only a few deeper grooves were still visible. As for colored wax. Not much. Only very small scratches were mixed in. Even from 4 or 5 feet away I could still see maybe 80% of the original damage. I then tried the included wax pick up on a deeper notch that was about 3/4 inch long and looked almost black. I put a colored pen on the spot and filled it in. Now my very dark notch was a very light notch - the silver crayon is much lighter than the shade of my car paint. Well I think it's an improvement. To finish the truck, I first buffed the whole car, buffed away a coat of colored wax, and then applied a final topcoat of regular polymer paste wax. The truck looks pretty good now, but the process took almost two If you're hoping for a quick fix by just using colored wax, I think you'll be disappointed.
