I came across such a model in an asus x550l laptop. It takes between 6 and 8 seconds for the system to boot up. They say that changing the BIOS on my laptop model fixes this problem, but I haven't done anything about it yet because it doesn't seem to be affecting anything. The disk is moving very quickly, and occasionally you can hear the head moving. They brought the exact same laptop to work with the exact same disk, and there really is a problem there. The system boots up for two minutes, and after loading the disk access is 100%, but it is unclear what it does. The mhdd did not detect any bad blocks, so it is safe to assume that everything is in working order. Intel Rapid Storage Technology version 8.1 was installed against the user's will. The access to the disk has been removed, and the system boots up in ten seconds, however it occasionally acts in an incorrect manner. It is not entirely apparent whether the system, the twisted firewood, or the disk itself is to cause for this issue. I myself am flying an 8x64, and it's a great experience.
