Launched after first use never worked

Bought as a replacement hub for my 2019 Macbook Pro. Connected for the first time to use the HDMI output. I never saw anything on my screen. Reset it several times and tried different ports. After 2 minutes of troubleshooting I noticed a burning smell. Turned off and it was too hot to touch. The product never worked. Luckily the ports on my laptop are still working. I still use other non-Apple hubs that work. Maybe a lemon or maybe just not compatible with my particular laptop.
