I got a BUNCH of different sensors in one of those "explore the Arduino" kits. Unsurprisingly (considering the price), most of those sensors were garbage. In fact, I used one of the ultrasonic sensors when I was wanting to make a parking distance device for my garage. I didn't have success with the cheapo sensor, but I figured that had to be something better. Hello, DIYmall JSN-SR04T Waterproof Ultrasonic Module JSN-SR04T!I used this with an Arduino Mega 2560 (overkill) and some WS2813 LEDs. The LEDs are arranged in a strip, and the pattern looks something like this:00000000000.00000000.….00000.…….00.….The color also changes from green, to yellow, to orange, and finally to flashing red, as the distance between the car and the sensor decrease. In my application it works great. The sensor definitely picks up something like a car a lot better than a person walking into the measurement zone. With a car, the readings are accurate and pretty stable. I didn't really get the advertised range, though, as my sensor seems to work well from about 15cm to about 85cm. Recommended.
