Buy now! The sound quality is amazing on all levels. You can blow them up or mute them and you still get a rich sound from the Dynamic Bass EQ. To be honest I don't think you need a subwoofer but I bought one because I'm a basshead. Bluetooth and optical work very well, and it's very easy to install and use. If you're using for Netflix, make sure the optical output is set to PCM, otherwise the speakers won't work. Rap metal is amazing. Sometimes it's almost too loud! *Update* 1/3/19 These speakers are normally set to optical mode from my TV so whatever is playing on my TV (games, Netflix, Pandora) will work. As I said before, change the audio output to PCM in your TV settings to allow Netflix to play through the speakers. Otherwise you will get ugly noises from them and they will never work. If I want to connect my phone to the speakers via Bluetooth, it can be done in a matter of seconds. I like the sound of these speakers and they look fantastic. I have a feeling most women don't want to look at speakers, but men do. When I go to my kitchen which is 2 rooms away I just turn one of my speakers over there and you can still hear everything crystal clear. PS In my situation you wouldn't need to turn on the speaker, but I want to get the most out of my system. As you can see, 2 Klipsch R-120SW subwoofers are connected to these speakers. You can't go wrong with the R-51PM. Later, if my wife allows me, I'd like to buy an optical splitter and buy a second set of these speakers to put on the opposite side of my room to get surround sound and then I don't have to turn on these speakers as it is noisy. But if my wife leaves, we both know that I will walk all 4. My music ranges from rap to metal. The only reason I'm interested in rap is because of the bass. If I didn't have subs, I wouldn't play. The drivers on these speakers work really well with fast double bass in metal compositions. That's all.
