This is a very good helmet for the money. This is a great choice for both racing (I use) and anyone who wants a very good outdoor helmet. It's essentially a 'lower' version of the Bell Race Star and an entry point into the Star line. That means it has a MIPS system and also includes cheek pads for emergency release. Emergency release cheek pads allow rescuers to pull on the cheek pads before attempting to remove the helmet. This allows for a much smoother helmet removal and reduces the risk of serious neck injuries. This feature alone is worth the extra money compared to a budget helmet. This helmet also includes the Transition face shield which is really amazing. This is the shield that makes the helmet a great choice for the outdoors. You no longer have to choose between wearing a tinted or clear screen. When you step out into the bright sun and come back in the dark, the screen will automatically adjust. It really works. One thing that makes it a little less road-friendly is the lack of a partially open mount. The screen is either fully open or fully closed. You can't "snap" it closed when it's closed, but that leaves only the tiniest tear and doesn't add much airflow to the airflow. On a bike where the head is well protected from the wind, sport bikes and cruisers without protection, the ventilation openings let in enough air. For anything with a shield that keeps most of the air off the rider, your only choices are fully open or fully closed. This is something to keep in mind. All in all, this is a great helmet for the track, whether it's racing or track days, for less money than the Race Star. For the road, this is a very good option for many types of bikes, but maybe not for all. One thing I would like to mention, just for racing I also have a Scorpion R1 Air. Scorpion is a great helmet, it's a lot lighter than this helmet and cheaper. It doesn't have an adapter plate, but it's not that important for racing. For racing alone I would probably go with the R1 Air, but it's a close call and for many the graphics may matter. For those who want a helmet for track and street, I would go with this helmet. In fact, both helmets are excellent and offer great value.
