I like the fact that they are thin and quite flimsy.
I am using them for a physical bridge project. I like the fact that they are thin and inherently quite weak, which requires students to think a bit about their design. The biggest problem I have is that about 1/4 of the box is made up of toothpicks that are crooked, bent, or otherwise useless if you need a reasonably consistent structure to assemble. But in general they work pretty well (at least the ones we can use).
