At under $170, it's not bad for a budget-conscious gamer looking for a fast monitor. For me, the main purpose is just an additional monitor for work. I have an LG UltraGear monitor as my main monitor, which honestly beats it in dynamic color range. In contrast, this ASUS cannot achieve true black. It's just "dismal". There are no very dark grays or blacks. Even with extensive parameterization attempts. The HDR setting seemed to offer the best contrast, but it was far from perfect. Your 15-year-old gamer probably doesn't care, but if you do professional graphics work, you'll definitely level up. EDIT: After almost a month of sitting this boring monitor next to a sharp LG Ultragear, I couldn't take the contrast anymore. Came back for another LG.
