Review on ๐ŸŽง Fostex T60RP Diaphragm Stereo Headphones by Kristiyana Briblo แ Œ

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Everything about the purchase suits me, a very necessary product.

On the first and 2nd day, I didnโ€™t like the sound from the headphones. Fostex T60RP looks like a solid ten on a ten-point scale (natural wood, leather and steel). Well, as it turned out, the first conclusion about their poor sound was not true. Fostex T60RP are very picky about the sound source, they need a good DAC with a large margin of PCM frequencies and good music recordings (preferably in DSD format). There is such a legend that the PCM frequency is not important and 16bit / 44.1 KHz is enough, and if you increase the frequency, you will not notice the difference, and yes, I agreed with this when I used dynamic headphones, such as the Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO, and others. So with Fostex T60RP, an interesting situation turned out, because. my Topping DX3 Pro DAC allows you to increase the PCM frequency to 768 kHz / 32 bit, DSD512, I set the frequency to 352 kHz / 32 bit in Windows 10 and experienced the feeling that the imaginary sound stage expanded and this only works on planar headphones, dynamic headphones on it doesn't care. But here there will also be a caveat that the forced increase in frequencies is only for the better for the FLAC, Lossless format with a frequency of 16bit / 44.1 KHz, but it is better to play the DSD format as it is without changing the sampling frequency. And of course, you need at least a small warm-up of the headphones, you can download a special sound file on the Internet and drive the headphones using it at night. In general, thanks to these manipulations, I received from the Fostex T60RP headphones a sound corresponding to their appearance (ten points out of ten). Now, in order to feel the difference between planar and dynamic headphones, it is enough to quickly change into other headphones. That is, after listening to a music track in Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO dynamic headphones, I immediately change my ears into Fostex T60RP and the wow effect is present, I understand how the track should actually play (Fostex T60RP sound more balanced in frequencies, there are no dips in medium and high high, the detail is awesome and the imaginary sound stage is much wider than that of dynamic headphones).

Pros
  • Wide soundstage compared to dynamic headphones in this price range, honest sound, great detail.
Cons
  • There is no balanced cable in the kit from the manufacturer and you need to buy it separately, and the cable that comes with the kit is a bit short.
