I washed alone on gentle cycle and tumble dried air/down. It came out knotted and no longer fluffy, the "fur" fell off completely in several places. The seam came undone and the whole filling was in the dryer. I also noticed that when my cat stretched out, his paw could slip through the end of the button tab. I think for a dog rather than a cat it can be very dangerous if they get their foot stuck in it and fall off something unless the bed is on the floor.
