We actually bought this for our large poodle; Sounds weird, I know, but listen to me. Poodles have beards that get wet when they drink, and if you've ever had a dog with a "beard" or long hair that collects water around its mouth, you'll understand how badly it starts smelling. On the advice of other poodle owners, we looked for a beard balm to repel water and keep hair soft. This balm does the job. It prevents water from building up on the hair without making the coat stiff or sticky. It smells wonderful, not overwhelming, so our husband doesn't even realize he's wearing it.
