Good multipurpose tool for short distance quilting. This is useful for quilting a lot of small places where you want to use a ruler. It can turn a corner and trace a curved appliqué if you know how to use a ruler when quilting. I have a sitting long arm and use rulers with it. I used to use rulers on my home sewing machine sometimes, but it's definitely harder; However, I wouldn't be afraid to try it that way. I don't think this should be your first quilting ruler. I think your first one should be straight, about two inches wide and eight to ten inches long, with longitudinal marks spaced 1/4 inch apart. It goes without saying that any ruler you use to guide you while quilting should be 1/4 inch thick. Otherwise your quilting foot can jump on it and your needle will hit it and you could mess up the timing of your machine. It could be your second ruler.
