After more than 20 years of premium Saucony footwear, I have concluded with great satisfaction that Saucony has succumbed to the 'minimal' fashion and reduced the heel. drop from 12 mm to 8 mm. While this freaky, "trying to walk to be cool" benefited youngsters who would probably be just as comfortable walking in Dutch clogs, it led to a series of chronic problems that ran back and forth in my feet and legs until I finally had to stop running and even walk, freezing from pain. After investigating the issue, I decided to try Saucony's 12mm HTT shoes (one of the few still supporting it among all the major running shoe manufacturers) as I had recovered well enough to run again. It was mostly successful. My foot is yet to fully recover from the tendonitis that hurts so much I stopped running and walking a year ago, but at least my foot doesn't get infected like every other shoe in my shoe stall. I use it for walking, hiking and whenever I'm on my feet for a while and the experiment seems to be successful. I will now order the Running Trainer version when I start running again. I wish Saucony was more conscientious about the long-term effects of their engineering changes; Also, I wish they could go back to their 09/10/11/13 Hurricane specs and give their serious lifestyle runners the care and protection they deserve for such loyalty over so many years.
