I'm still looking for the perfect toddler tap shoe but this one is pretty good. We tried the tie and button versions first and my daughter always needed help tying or buttoning, so we went with these hoping she could button them up herself. The buckles on them are quite uncomfortable, but she can do it herself with practice. (My husband can't button them at all though.) The little bow slips easily but can be taken off. The pegs are inserted into the heel/sole which is better than other branded shoes where they just clip in place. As with most other children's tap shoes, this is not real leather, but a synthetic material. :(
