My old Sony clock CD radio finally died (sort of) after 10 years(?) of faithful service, so I started looking for a replacement. One of my requirements for the next machine was the ability to play MP3 discs. There isn't much to choose from among dedicated clock radios - the only Sony model that can have average user reviews. Plan B. Switching to a unit like the CMT-LX20i is a plus as I needed more amplifier power than most clock radios can provide. The Bose and Cambridge models probably outperform this Sony in terms of sound quality - and the sound is really good - BUT at a price 3-5 times the price. Not for sale. The downside is that it's significantly larger than a traditional clock radio. I would give Sony 5 stars barring a few issues. My biggest concern is that MP3 disc won't play randomly after waking up. why is it so difficult A less serious criticism is that the display cannot show the real-time clock. From a subjective point of view, this is a pretty beast, the main block of which resembles a black monolith from the painfully boring film 2001: A Space Odyssey. The lines are clear, the number of keys is minimal.
