Review on Adobe Premiere Elements 2021 Disc by Doug Virden

The video editor has flaws and limited features.

I am not satisfied with this program. It works great when you want to edit multiple SMALL videos in one, or want to remove everything you don't need from a small video to make it even smaller and look better. This way you avoid permanent monthly payments like with Adobe Premier Pro. But it's nowhere near as professional as some free editing packages like Openshot. This review was written to show that this software doesn't work with large or long videos. If you have small projects, if so, you should be able to get this software working, although almost any free package will work just as well. But if, like me, you're trying not to pay big bucks a month for the Adobe Pro version, Elements isn't great software for professionals, although they claim it's suitable for both novice and professional users. First of all, this Elements software and its help system is so good. so badly bugged that I found it almost useless for professional editing of questions. The first is the cartoonish way the help system works. And you will probably need help as there are many problems and no guide at all. It has a lame tutorial that shows very few features that few people will use like this, how you do it. And in about half the cases, online help requests resulted in help for products other than Adobe Premier Elements 2021, or help files that predated that software by many years. Every time I've looked for help I've only gotten old Adobe Premier Pro stuff that didn't apply to 2021 Elements. I called twice to get support. One day the person who helped couldn't find how to do a specific task in Elements 2021 and said they would take care of it and call back within 24 hours. Never heard from them again. On another occasion, the representative simply told me that I couldn't turn off the feature that was causing my file to take hours to download. Then the representative told me in the chat, how to do it (didn't work) and I kept telling her that my software didn't have what she wanted from me. Eventually, it turned out that she, too, had read the Adobe Premier Pro 2018 guide. So wrong software and old help even from support staff. What should users do when helpdesk staff cannot get current, accurate help information? Just a nightmare of support issues. I mostly make videos with my camcorder to film one of my 3D printers printing a model from start to finish in 1080p. This unedited video can often range from 5 to 100 hours of video. Then I take this video and shift it by X16 so it takes much less time, length and space. Then I replace the audio track with music or voice-over. And sometimes more rounds of editing. When I'm done, I'll have a video of less than an hour that I can upload to Youtube or other similar services as a tutorial or product review. So my original uploaded files are huge. Often there are several hundred Gs, sometimes several files that have to be combined. And this is where Premier Elements let me down before I even started editing. Spike files are created for loading files only (not for editing), which represent the visual part of the audio track. And it takes hours and hours to download while creating those top-notch files. With small files it is hardly noticeable. However, downloading large files takes several hours. So I can't work long hours until the files are uploaded. Then the files are finally uploaded. But without clear instructions, it's a terrible mess of the learning curve. Oh. Let's get to the online help. Okay, let's try this and that suggestion. Why aren't these suggestions working? Ouch. because they don't even apply to this version, or sometimes even to the type of software. So now let's try to do everything wrong as the help didn't help, there is no manual and the internet and Adobe help system have no idea what Adobe Premier Elements 2021 is. Okay, that doesn't help, so let's call tech support to disable the generation of spike files that are causing problems. A. Isn't that possible, although people on the internet have been complaining about it for years that this feature causes problems? It must be because I don't have the latest usage they say? Bull. I edit videos all the time with this processor and 32GB of RAM. Now I can't help you anymore if you don't update your system. So I uninstalled, borrowed an ultra-fast PC from my friends that far exceeds Adobe's requirements, and installed it. Slightly faster, but still takes hours to load large files. Contacted Adobe and they told me the problem should now be with the files I was using and not with using such large files. That's the whole purpose of editing - reducing the length and size of large raw files! Thus ended this useless contact. Deleted items from my PC. Apparently not much has changed in process generation. I downloaded the openshot video editor suggested by my friend. All large video files uploaded to Openshot in about 3 minutes. I got all my video editing done there in a few hours of work. Saved and rendered final file. The rendering took a very long time (about 30 hours). But it worked and the timeout was after the edit was done while the file was being rendered. I reinstalled Elements 2021 on my computer. I was determined, no matter how long it took, to do the same editing as Openshot just to see if it would pull through. It took 28.5 hours just to download the files and create top files. So I had to wait over a day to even start editing. It was hard to figure out how to make what I wanted with Elements, but I finally did the necessary editing in about 6 hours of editing. Now start saving and rendering a 1080p 30fps video that was originally around 30 hours long to now create a 58 minute final cut with sound and music. It's amazing what was accomplished in about 11 hours. This part (rendering) was much faster than openshot. But I don't want to wait so many hours to download the files. This connects my computer for too long. A few days later I tried the same thing on my friends screaming fast 10th Gen Intel 64G. It was just a few minutes faster than my total time to the finish. Almost all of the slowness was due to file uploads and spike file creation, so the problem wasn't procedural as Adobe tried to blame it. . As these features were then applied, very crude moves and edits became the norm. With no real help method, this software has an extremely high learning curve. In the end I decided to just remove it and use the free Openshot for everything instead. It was much easier to understand its functions. The only thing Elements did better was faster final render times, offset by super long load times. The Elements codec used seemed to produce slightly better video than Openshot, although the settings were similar. But I want to jump right in and start editing videos. I can't wait to start editing days after uploading files. It blocks my computer for too long. I tried to get a refund for Adobe Elements but was told that open source software can only be replaced with the same. So just lost a lot of money with it. Do not purchase this software if you are working with large or long files. Problems even with their loading. Start editing days after uploading files. It blocks my computer for too long.
