This thing will keep your batteries powered even when it's off. I don't use it that often. I make a few labels and then sit on the shelf for several months. Come back to use again, dead batteries. So after the 3rd or 4th time. I only have a second label cassette and have used up 18 to 24 batteries. (It holds 6 at a time) I started pulling out the batteries knowing he was going to be using them for a while. Since then, the same set of batteries has lasted for several years. But like I said, I don't often print labels.
