I am a foster mother to several teenagers so I spend a lot of time in the kitchen cooking. I bought this to add to a regular outlet so I don't have to unplug/plug in small countertop appliances while cooking or baking. I also like that I can store the phone's charging cable on a small ledge on the back when it's not in use. After installation, the indicator turns red (insert and tighten the screw) to indicate that the surge protection is also activated. I've added a second one next to my bedside table that will be useful for an alarm clock, small desk fan, laptop, phone charging, etc. I've only been using it for a few days so hopefully everything will work as expected with no issues. The hard plastic outer shell makes the device feel a little light, but once installed it shouldn't be a problem. So far I am satisfied with the purchase.
