My 40 lb dog loves to excessively pull away, sniff everything, cross into my path, and get distracted on walks and I end up with a sore shoulder and hand from trying to train her to stay by my side. A friend recommended a slip leash like this but said that I should put it around my dog's neck, then make it into a figure 8 shape and loop it around her nose as well. She said that having that kind of pressure on my dog's nose would help her be more aware of what she is doing. My dog shook her head a few times when I first put it on her, but after the initial newness wore off, she was willing to walk with it on and stays right by my side with her head held high. She is so much more pleasant to go on walks with and my arm isn't sore after walks with her now! It doesn't seem to hurt her, it only tightens slightly if she happens to walk faster or try to go after something. I've had it for 2 weeks, so I can't speak to the durability of it, but I can't imagine it breaking with how tame she is with this leash on her. The padded handle is also really nice on the hand but I haven't really had to use it since my dog doesn't pull with the leash looped around her neck and nose. I'm really glad that this works so well - I didn't want to resort to a poke collar to get my dog to walk normally on a leash.
