I got this for my 5 year old niece who is rather timid. She will NEVER go the speed required to light up. A bit disappointing that she misses out on this cool feature. You have to get going pretty fast for it which seems hard for the age range.- Steering by leaning can be hard for some kids in this age range to grasp. It terrified my niece. I think steering by turning the handle would be more intuitive for her but I understand it would change the design of the scooter.Overall great scooter
