I first bought this collar over a month ago and it worked fine. I had to remove the link for a correct fit, which was easy with the instructions provided. The ends of the collar were fastened with a strap through each end of the links. With the strap clip open the loop was wide enough for me to place the collar on the dog's head and once over the dog's head I could attach the clip which narrowed the loop and held the collar tight. Then the leash was attached to the O-ring on the loop, and when the dog pulled, the collar was tightened. When the dog broke the collar I decided to order a replacement collar. The design of the replacement collar, subject of this review, differs from the original, although the instructions and packaging, product number, etc. are original. same. The replacement collar does not have a loop strap, just two straps, one at each end of the collar and they are connected by a clip. The leash attaches to the loop on the O-ring just like the original collar. However, if the dog pulls now, the collar will not compress because it has no loop strap. The collar will only work if the pulling force is digging into the dog's neck instead of squeezing as before. As a result, the dog does not react as quickly as with the original collar. I repaired the original collar and am now looking for another supplier that has a similar collar to the original I purchased from that supplier.
