Great product if you follow these steps to apply it.

This product works very well if you use it correctly and use the best applicator. I have used it on several automotive black plastic surfaces with fantastic results. Here are the steps based on my experience and some wise feedback on Revain. 1- Prepare the surface: the first thing to do is clean the plastic surface to be painted. You can't clean the surface too much. Use these three steps: a- Use your regular surface cleaner and a stiff cleaning brush. Some recommend Dawn dishwashing liquid. I went for a stronger cleaner with Simple Green. Any product is suitable for this phase. Mix with water and rub surfaces well. Rinse with clear water and let the surface dry. b- Remove ALL residue from the plastic with a cloth and Goof-Off. Goof-Off is very strong so be careful not to apply it to painted surfaces. Apply to a cloth and rub well on the plastic to remove any oils, finish residue and black paint that barely adheres to the plastic. This makes some of the plastic look almost grey. Don't worry about that. The color will make it black again. No rinsing required. c- Finally, prepare the surface with the cleaner included in the Forever Black kit. This is used last, before the dye is applied, as I'm assuming the dye manufacturer has tested it and knows what chemicals are best to work with and won't affect the dye itself. Then allow the plastic to dry overnight or 6 to 8 hours depending on humidity. applied. To avoid this, use the right applicator: a- When using a brush, there will be streaks. I had this problem so I threw the brush away. b- Bubbles were caused with the foam brush that came with the kit or similar types available at hardware stores. These foam brushes have larger holes that trap air which can more easily leave bubbles and the like when applying the paint. That's why I only used the supplied brush to apply the paint, for thin strokes in narrow corners. Many reviews here have complained about streaks or blisters. To avoid this, follow the next step. c- Purchase a high density foam brush or narrow high density foam roller. Here's the secret to a good application I've found! The high density foam has very small holes and therefore does not leave bubbles or other marks on the plastic when the paint is applied. I used a Home Depot high density foam roller that was 3-4 inches wide and came with its own small bowl into which I poured the black paint. 3- Remember to apply them like paint or stain, not paint. It is a dye and will therefore stain or stain the plastic. And just like with paint and stains, you tend to look better if you don't apply them too thickly. I applied the paint to the surface in several layers, being careful NOT to apply a thick layer like when applying paint. Think of your plastic as wood that you are painting and you want to put a black "smudge" on the plastic's "grain" so it will sink into the grain. Then apply another thin coat or two until you get the desired plastic look. With this approach I am very happy with the end product and would highly recommend it.
