Review on πŸŒ‘ Zassenhaus Augsburg 7-inch Salt & Pepper Mill/Grinder Set in Black Finish, Made from Beech Wood by Trevor Blazis

Good quality set, perfect size 7 "

I am very happy with this mill set. There have been a number of minor issues and annoyances ranging from moisture ingress to grinding issues. This set is made in Germany (NOT China!) and the difference is immediately noticeable in so many ways. First, the grinders look great. I love the wood/steel contrast they have, but they have different styles if you will. Second, the grinder works beautifully and grinds much smoother than my old cheap set.Metal caps on the TOP!They are NOT designed to adjust the grind - the fine/coarse grind is controlled by the white knob on the LOW setting to work differently..Grinders block moisture much better than cheap grinders Moisture makes salt stick together and pepper spoils faster The grinders are made of high-quality de utscher ceramics are made to not rust or tarnish and hopefully not break or crack. In addition, they come in a variety of grinds, from (almost) powdery to very coarse. That's why I chose it over the Cole & Mason set (made in China) and other sets in this price range. Finally, the 7-inch size is big enough to hold a decent amount of salt or pepper while not being bulky and unwieldy like some of the full-size sets. I found two very small design issues. are identical except for the letter 'S' or 'P' engraved on the top cap. The dinner guests (and you) don't have to examine them carefully before using/handing them over, so there should be a much more obvious way of doing this to do distinguish them. One solution is to order different colors - white for salt and black for pepper. Also, Zassenhaus needs to make the metal on the top cover thicker. wouldn't the ground crush them? In any case, salt and pepper are used on a daily basis and if you cook at home, I think you should do this for a good (non-Chinese) cutting kit.

Pros
  • Handy item
Cons
  • So far so good
