This was a great router. The increase in range compared to the old one is very noticeable. I have not reached speeds in these ranges at either AC or n. I'm deducting a star for 2 reasons. Firstly, I don't think the qos function works. Maybe behind the scenes it prioritizes a different type of traffic, but the way it does that is very odd to me. It looks like everything is capped at 15Mbps by default if you enable qos. You can then add high-priority users to the list, which should improve performance. In my testing using HTTP speed tests, they didn't perform any better. But all were successfully capped no matter what. So this feature made a difference, but I didn't like how it slowed everyone down, regardless of current usage. Now Qos is just disabled and that suits me. Another problem concerns alternating current. This device does not allow you to explicitly set the 5GHz band to AC only. Essentially, the only way to get AC is to leave it in Mixed Mode, which allows N/A/AC to turn on. I don't understand this logic. I should be able to force AC mode for 5GHz radios. I can confirm that the AC speed is great, but it seems to me that another device can connect to the 5GHz band and associate as n. This takes away much of the speed advantage of this reach from AC-enabled clients. The solution is to assign only AC-enabled devices to this area. But that's not something I want to worry about. I would prefer devices to select the best signal and radio, but this setting can slow things down. So it is better to keep the SSID separate and choose the one you want for each device.
