I don't know why I expected more than it actually is. It's only about 5-6 in height. But after coming to terms with the fact that it was smaller than I expected, I really liked it. It has a compass on both ends and both work great. I'm sure everyone who buys an hourglass sits back and watches the sand spurt out of the top at least once. And that's exactly what I did. It takes 3 to 4 minutes to completely empty the hourglass to the bottom. The compass will come in handy because I'm in a new office and my sense of direction is completely out of whack. But this hourglass is a great addition to my office and looks great on my desk. I'll take it with me from the office. I took a photo of my office and company building. In any case, if you are not expecting a large hourglass, then I am sure that this hourglass will make you happy. This is a really nice hourglass and looks great on my desk. I definitely recommend it.
