Not exactly sure why but it doesn't seem to help as it eliminates the odor from my litter box. To be on the safe side, I fully charged it and switched it on. I installed it as directed, but after about 3 hours the power seemed to run out. I tried again, letting it charge for 24 hours and setting it up before bed. In the morning I didn't do anything and apparently discharged completely again. I tried again. It just doesn't seem to have been loaded long enough to tell if it's working or not.
