Review on πŸ› SlipX Solutions Snug Plug Bath Drain Stopper: Sealing 1.5 Inch Open Drains with Easy Push Open/Close Design for Tubs by David Alvarado

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Fits drain plug but not as described

I bought this because at our rental the tub I bathe my 2 year old in had a plug that was almost impossible to close off and she keeps accidentally retiring squeezed out of the sewers. So I was looking for something she wouldn't accidentally dump in the sewer. I chose this cork because of the price and the good reviews. Pros: This will close your drain if your drain is a standard size. If that's all you need, it will work and it will be inexpensive. Cons: Yes, it's rubber, but because it's recyclable (or recycled?) rubber isn't very hard. So when it is in the "up" position (as shown in the picture) it is not strong enough to stay upright when you run water, nor does it stay fully upright when the tub is full. It kind of leans to the side, but it still drains. If you accidentally tear the top off (which is easy to do), it's impossible to put it back on while the bottom is still down the drain. You must remove the base to reattach the top. So DO NOT buy this if you are hoping for a plug that you can leave in the drain and open and close at will. That being said, the company contacted me shortly after my purchase for a little follow-up survey. I took the survey (and said some of what I said here) and the rep emailed me and said that the issues I mentioned arose when they switched to recycled material. She offered to send me the PVC version for free, which I agreed to. I used the PVC version and it's much, much better because the rubber is stiff enough to do what it's advertised to do and the top doesn't come off easily. If this rating was for the PVC version I would give it 4 stars.
