Never buy from Linksys. I bought a Linksys WRT54GL router in 2002 and it has worked great for 9 years. In 2011 I couldn't get online at all, but luckily the person at Cox.com helped me figure out it was a router error. This router worked for 13 months until the warranty expired and then it failed. In October 2012, Linksys offered me a discount on a new E2000 router that "I'll never have a problem with." I started having problems a month after receiving the E2000 router. I used to call them at least every two weeks and after 3 months I knew who from the support center in the Philippines knew about the E2000 router. I talked about it regularly in 2012, and in April 2013 I was offered another discount on the latest wireless router. They sent me an EA2700 router which was said to be the best router. Around the same time the tech mentioned that the helpdesk staff went through a 2 week training course and then were transferred to the ground and the rest was OJT (training on the job). I bought a new laptop on April 11, 2013 and hoped my two problems would be over. I started calling almost immediately with a new problem, a limited connection that dropped intermittently when not connected. I've also found that they have an "expert level" technician to help resolve complex or recurring issues. On her advice I rearranged the router and Cox swapped out the modem. Linksys replaced the router in June, August and late November. In October 2014, Cox replaced the wiring from the street to my house. In December, I was furious with Linksys and their inability to fix what I thought was a common problem with their routers. December 25, 2014 I got home and decided to use my computer and to my surprise I wasn't connected to my network. I called Linksys and spoke to a technician for the first time in California, USA. We talked for a while because he understood what I meant and what I said. He talked about all the issues I've had over the past three years and told me that they should have offered me a free router upgrade and replacement in November when they found out the last replacement was less than 24 hours and they forced me to reinstall the previous router. which will last about a week. Because it was Christmas he couldn't order a replacement or router upgrade, but he told me not to accept anything less. On December 28, 2014, after three phone calls, they finally agreed to send me a new EA3500 router. Received it from California on January 20, 2014 and it didn't install. I made my first call for a new router and they fixed the problem with no problem. This router worked fine for about 6 months and then started having the same issues with limited or no connectivity. I rarely called Linksys because now I know you can use their smart wifi online system to check if there's new firmware, you can also change the channel and that's pretty much all they do have ever done for me. I called Linksys today because once again I don't have 24 hour uptime, they said my router is out of warranty and I need new firmware, they haven't even looked at my router. She said I had three choices. 1 incident plan for $29.99 or 6 month plan for $39.99. The last option is to get a $90 rebate on a new Linksys router. I declined their offer; checked if I need a firmware update (I don't) and started searching Revain for a new router made by another company.
