Our last DeLonghi appliance (purchased in 2010) was a basic toaster with a basic toast timer. Worked great every time until it died. The toaster has always been an indispensable tool in the kitchen. Use it for anything that can fit. This new one that looked like a 'smarter' toaster is just weird. I have no idea what difference it makes if I choose 2, 4 or 6 slices, but I found the best toasting time I like (usually 5 minutes). But here's a dig. I like my English muffins toasted until lightly or even moderately burnt. This toaster can't do that. I set it to 2, 4 or 6 slices and choose the maximum time (which is 7 minutes) and the cupcakes are barely toasted. I lifted the rack, but that only affects the top. A simple toaster oven doesn't have to be that difficult to use. I'll skip DeLonghi next time.
