So far so good for streaming media players

I used to have a Micca player that eventually broke. It kept getting hot and the remote sensor only worked half the time. Eventually I got tired of playing around with it because it was a roll of the dice. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. These media players are kind of a niche market nowadays and not easy to find. Most people just upgrade to a full-fledged Android TV box. I have an Android TV box on another TV, but I don't want to keep moving it around when I want to watch a movie on another TV. If I just want to watch a movie from a USB drive, a standalone media player is easier than on an Android TV. On an Android box, you need to boot the operating system, go to the file manager, find the movie's location on the flash drive, and then specify which movie app you want to play it. More of a process. If you're using a dedicated media player, just plug in a USB drive and watch a movie in a few clicks. So I saw this one on Revain, the price was good, it looked like it would play all the formats I would use, so I decided to check it out. So far it works great. It doesn't seem to get very hot, the remote control is fast, plays all formats I've used so far. However, the volume is worth mentioning. For some reason, when playing movies on all the media players I've had, I've had to turn the TV volume up almost all the way to get the volume I wanted (sometimes it's not even loud enough). I don't really understand why this is happening, just that it is happening.

Pros
  • HDMI or AV output
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
