Good print quality, but WHAT A PAIN TO SET UP!

So I've used Canon printers all my adult life. I love them for the quality of the print and the fact that they can run all types of paper through them. I like cheap top loading photo quality. BUT. This printer does not support Plug and Play. Just skip it if you are not smart enough to take 3 hours to connect it to your home network. Damn! What happened to Plug and Play? My last Canon was replaced by Windows 10. They no longer had the driver and it just got boring anyway. A repair would have cost at least three times as much as this new one, so I settled on a similar model. I have 6 computers on my home network and wow I'm not a computer geek and that was the problem. I went through their computer tutorial and YouTube video and finally all their diagnostics before finally connecting it to my router. My 2 other Brother printers were MUCH easier. I don't know why Canon can't figure out how to make it more user friendly. So here are the pros: It has a top feed so you can feed card stock and photo paper, and it doesn't jam the rollers like the bottom one. tray feeder. It is not expensive. It has 2 cartridges which are relatively cheap, print well and you only need to buy 2 instead of 4 (for some printers that have a 4 color model and still cost $25 each). The color quality is very appealing. It's lightweight so moving around to access cords etc is a breeze. Cons: ADAPTATION - MONSTERS - If you're a bit older than the new generation of tech then this isn't for you. None of my Canon printer cartridges have ever been refilled. He just doesn't like it and gets very picky. I don't use it as my only printer. I use a Brother laser printer at 3 cents a page for my normal writing, shopping and printing, so it doesn't really bother me because when I'm printing from my Canon it's because I want a really high quality product (be it a photo or a photo). , brochure with a professional program, gift design, etc.) and so I do not pass, but only a few sets of cartridges a year. Which manual!? The English part consists of 6 full pages. 4 of them explain how to remove the orange packing tape and insert the cartridges and paper. The other 2 just ask you to go online to download the driver and connect to a computer (p5) or phone (p6). There is no really useful information. I don't even know why they bothered to send it. (I can figure out how to rip off the orange tape and snap the cartridge into place!) Really six pages just to tell you to go online. Pooh! All in all I'm happy with it now that I've installed this thing. Since I don't have to reinstall unless I change my network, I think everything will be smooth. The print quality is excellent and I am satisfied with the printer. I had trouble finding a printer with a top input tray that could print photos and postcards. I would buy it again but just wanted to warn those who might not find it easy to install. My parents would be very upset and would most likely send it back. If you're over 55 or not even tech-savvy, choose something else if you don't mind a paper drawer in the bottom tray. There are many great Brother printers with bottom tray loading that struggle with heavy paper. I'm only deducting one star because the printer itself is really great. Maybe it's just because I have such a large home network that there's excitement. My router is fairly new and designed for my large home network, so I'm really not sure why the printer and router can't communicate. When I finally got the printer to send signals properly, my router picked it up. The i-button prints a page letting you know if you're connected and gives you the printer's password in case you had to tell the router how to find the printer in a workaround. I finally got to wps by holding down the signal button on the printer for 3 seconds and pressing wps on my router. I've done this about 20 times and finally it worked. You must connect the printer to your network and then the computer to the printer, otherwise your computer will simply say it cannot find the printer on your network. Anyway, between getting installation prompts and just fiddling around and using the online help, I finally managed to connect. Great little printer, poor setup method.
