Heats up a lot and quickly. I mostly cook on low power (900-1200). The fan noise doesn't bother me - it's not very loud, it helps cool the record and gives an audible indication that it's still too hot/warm to the touch. Ceramic countertops are much easier to clean than cast iron countertops. I haven't figured out the timer setting yet, but it seems like a handy option. You can do without one or one of the handles. They stand out well and I'd rather have shelf space. But if you need to carry a hot burner from place to place I can see they will be of great use.
