I took this on impulse because I like things with skulls and this ice cube would make a great drink. Unfortunately, the promise of the killer skull-shaped ice cubes remained partially unfulfilled, or rather, partially fulfilled. I poured water into the bottom of the mold, assuming that when the water freezes, the last part of the "skull" will be filled. I put the charge on top as suggested in the instructions. (Science lesson: Water expands about 9% when it freezes.) But unfortunately, when I removed the ice cubes from the mold I had a cold skull face, but the ice landed on top of the mold - just like I poured it . Nothing like the example in the product photos. So we tried filling the mold with a tiny syringe through the small holes in the top and that didn't work either. We have more skulls but again not the full smooth full skull in the product photos. There was also plenty of ice between the mold halves, although the weight on top held them together. It's worth noting: the ice cream itself wasn't perfectly transparent, as can be seen on the packaging. I haven't tried distilled water (yet), but will try it later. But, you know what? I have skull face ice cubes which while not as cool as a whole skull are still delightfully spooky floating around in my drinks.
