I didn't read the item description carefully and didn't realize there was a spacer as I'm framing a much smaller, already matted and boxed two identical piece of art that I received as a gift. They're a bit awkward in size, so I figured I'd double frost them and crush them between the glass and the back panel. However, the astronaut thwarted these plans. However, I managed to leave it wrapped and used duct tape to secure it to the back of the rug in the frame. Actually I was also looking for a shadow box to show a signed shirt (about a year old). Now I'm thinking about making cuts and they are perfect for that purpose. These are high quality, beautiful frames that are clearly very versatile. However, if your design is unwrapped and smaller than the frame, be prepared to layer and glue to the backing of the rug inside the frame.
