I have owned at least a dozen pairs of these moccasins and other Sperry boat shoes/boots over the years. These are classic performance boat shoes for the first year or so, but after that the rubber compound in the soles hardens and they are SMOOTH and DANGEROUS both on deck (sailing) and when wet on regular tarmac. Sometimes even DRY asphalt. I sail regularly and again they are great for about a year, after that throw them away if you are a sailor and want to live. I have several friends who swim and they all share the same story with Topsiders. Too bad, because Sperry moccasins are classic sailing shoes. It is also an important piece of safety equipment on deck. you have been warned
