Bought as Christmas Gift does not work

I am super bummed. I bought this as a Christmas Gift for my son and you have to charge it USB and it will not charge. I have followed all troubleshooting steps- used different sources to charge-computer, wall piece etc. Nothing worse than spending money on a gift and the item does not work when opened. Guess we are sticking to the old fashioned watch with a battery
