My daughter is in 1st grade and wanted a wheeled backpack this school year. After doing a bit of searching and reading other reviews I bought this one for her. I liked that it had light up wheels and a matching lunch bag. The reviews I read said the lunch bag handle was broken. As I was primarily looking for a backpack and not a lunch bag (I had already bought another lunch bag) I took a gamble and bought this one as the lunch bag was more of a bonus than something we had needed. Turns out we haven't had a problem with the lunch bag yet and we're already in the middle of the school year and my daughter brings lunch every day. Of course, this bag isn't very good at keeping things cold or warm, but that's not a problem for us. As for the main piece, the backpack. This bag is perfect for my daughter's school. Every day she carries a 1 1/2 inch three ring binder for homework and other school records. Fits perfectly in a backpack. At that age, some of her classmates' backpacks wouldn't even fit in a folder, but this bag would. The bag stays upright and will not fall if not touched. The lighted wheels are also a nice touch, but not very bright, which I like because it doesn't distract the other students when she pulls her bag. Some wheeled bags make a lot of noise when you roll them, but not this one. Yes there is noise but not as loud as other bags I have heard/seen. The print and colors are bright and cheerful and look exactly like the pictures. The bottom of the bag is made of plastic, so the material won't get dirty or break. The handle extends easily for a 6 year old and also folds down for quick in and out of the car when getting in or out of the car lane or going up and down the stairs. Defects? Straps (if you want to carry it like a regular backpack, they're hard to hide and don't fit completely in your back pocket. They pop out and drag on the ground when she pulls the bag. I've tried shortening the straps, but that didn't work Also my daughter likes to wear it like a normal bag sometimes so I can't keep the straps at the shortest length otherwise the bag will be difficult to put on. Also it would be great if there was a way to attach the lunch- Bag on backpack if you wanted to use both.We tried putting the lunch bag on top of the retractable handle but when it pulls on the bag, gravity causes the bag to rotate when the backpack is tilted.This causes the lunch bag to drag on the floor, carrying the backpack and a pity, especially since the pockets are the same. other backpacks have this function. with matching lunch bag, a pity, that it isn't. The pockets on the sides of the bag aren't deep enough to fit a bottle of water. Of course, she could carry a smaller water bottle. She uses a 24 ounce water bottle but I like it when she has enough ice water for the whole school day. (Yes, the water bottle she uses can hold ice all day. She'll come home after a day of school with ice in her water bottle.) The bags will likely fit a regular-sized plastic water bottle you buy at the store. Loading, but as I said, she doesn't wear it. However, your water bottle has a handle that makes it easy to carry. Plus, it fits in the main pocket - just make sure the water bottle is capped properly to avoid spills. All in all, this is a great wheeled backpack. I usually buy her a new school bag for Christmas (like my older children do) because it wears out a lot. You know, kids, they drop it and they don't care where they drop it. But this bag is still in excellent condition. Sure it doesn't look brand new or anything, but it's still in great condition. I am so happy I made this purchase. My daughter is delighted with this bag. She even said her friends liked her bag when she got home from school. This is a great bag for a young student!
