I have a couple of holes that need patching. I did a good job with the tools I had, basically I didn't even know they existed. But now that I've found it, I love it. The pen is great - love the size and shape, it's so easy to hold and use. I think like a joystick. The rim is nice, smooth and wide. There's just the right amount of spacing across the entire blade for you to apply - in my case - joint sealant - and apply a smooth, thin coat over it. I'm thrilled and going a little crazy smoothing out my blemishes now. :) The picture already showed it perfectly. I love this product - it's far superior to any other I've used.
