I love these bowls. They are the perfect size for ramen and my 14 year old son uses them all the time. You won't burn his hands, and I'm not afraid they'll break in the microwave. I bought him one for Christmas and had to go back and buy two more because he killed the first one. One night he forgot to add water and, oh my god, the microwave almost caught fire. There's nothing wrong with shells, it could easily happen in any shell. It's good to have a pair on hand because one wasn't enough unless we accidentally ran the dishwasher for a few days. My eldest son laughed at me for buying such a gimmick and said paying such a price for a bowl is ridiculous. But you know he's wrong, none of my bowls stay cold after 3 minutes in the microwave and it comes with a built in line that allows my youngest son to add just the right amount of water. No mess, no fuss, just a happy mom. Fine, unless the ding-dong forgets to add water, then you'll have to air the house for a few days. I think I still smell burnt ramen from time to time.
