This is amazing. I have arthritis in my hands and can't spread my thumbs wide, so opening a large jar is almost impossible. Most of the time I use pliers to block channels, but a 6 inch can of pool chemicals weighs over 2 pounds. That does not work. with pliers, but it works! BUT! DO NOT set it up as shown (with the V point furthest from you). When you do this, you'll have the weight of what you're opening, trying to simultaneously press V and turn the jar counter-clockwise (which is unnatural). right out of your hand if you lack grip strength like me. Using both hands with your arms outstretched and raised is not easy unless you are a tall person or standing on a low stool. It's doable, but why fight? Instead: set it up with the V towards you and place it as close to the front of your wall cabinet as possible, and if possible right next to the right side panel of the bar that sits under the cabinet ( that last part isn't really needed, but I think that if your closet bottom is chipboard it reduces the chance of things twisting over time). So you can pull the can towards you by twisting it in the normal direction (clockwise) and it will open in half a turn or less! It will also be much closer to your body. Pulling towards you is much easier than pushing while spinning. You'll be amazed! You will, like me, want to open every jar in the fridge just for fun! No more pouring hot water over a maple syrup bottle to remove the lid! I add one to my garage so I don't have to run inside to open fertilizer and those awful cans of pool chemicals mentioned above. The design of this thing is perfect but what they do to make it easy to install is even better and I don't know why manufacturers of towel rails, coat hangers and other things that need to be installed exactly where you want them to be tighten Don't do this: you attach a sticky pad to the top of the opener and you peel off the paper. and then glue it exactly where you want and then insert the screws. Don't try to use it before the screws are in place. It won't stick (at least not on mine, although the instructions say screws are optional). No more marking, removing, drilling, installing, awkward holding with one hand, trying to insert a screw into a drilled hole, and then holding while you take a screwdriver and try to insert it into the hole. screw. It is much easier! Beaucoup compliments to your engineers, manufacturers EZ OFF! You really meant people like me and did us a huge favor. Now go to all the other manufacturers who can't seem to understand that everyone has the right to open the things they buy! A small note: there are other similar tools (like the Good Grips can opener). That is not how it works! I was hesitant to purchase this and thank the other reviewers for convincing me. What makes it different is that the part where the lid goes is deeper and has 2 blades to grab the lid instead of just one. So if you've tried others like this, give this one a try. You will love it!
