The good news is that you can get where you need to go in an unknown place. The bad news is that the routing is absolutely terrible. There are three modes (fastest, shortest, "leaner") and all three seem to default to the shortest route, albeit counterintuitively. For example, if I'm driving to my house on the freeway, instead of taking the freeway to the next exit, it tells me to get off the freeway about 2 miles early and turn onto the surface road (including four left turns at the stoplight). resulting in a time difference of 3 or 4 minutes at best to 10 or so at worst. TMC traffic is currently unavailable in the US and trying to find out when that might be is futile. So if this is an important consideration, keep that in mind. However, it comes in handy when you want to find a nearby restaurant or gas station, and it's a lot cheaper than other text-to-speech GPS devices. So it's not a complete failure, but you're probably better off spending the extra cash on a different GPS.
