Review on 🍿 Funtime FT421CR Vintage Carnival-Style Tabletop Hot-Oil Popcorn Popper with 4-Ounce Capacity, Red by Jeremy Flint

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It is great. Kids love it

Great stuff. The kids love it. It makes popcorn EXACTLY like in the theater as the popcorn slowly gushes from the top of the kettle. Poor design of the latch for emptying the kettle and while it works well I think they could have done better. doesn't really matter and works absolutely fine, never had a problem, but is just a cheap mechanism that runs like a spring on a metal plate. My only other complaint has to be that there are no vents at the top. So if you start slamming the jar really hard and there's no place for steam to escape, you can't open the door to let the steam out because the popcorn will fly all over the place. 3-4 minutes after cooking, although the steam has cleared and it looks normal. The light seems to keep the popcorn pretty hot, I thought the light was basically a gimmick when I first saw it, but if you leave a metal scoop in it it gets REALLY HOT. So yes, the light heats the popcorn very efficiently! One portion is enough for my family of 4 with 2 young children (5-7) for one movie. Clean up isn't bad either, just wipe everything down with a dry cloth and get out the salt and large items, then blot with a damp cloth to remove the oil splatters on the glass that build up over time. My kids use this as their local "lemonade stand". And they're REALLY profitable with this popcorn maker: On an average day spent outside, they can make $15 to $20 an hour just selling popcorn. All the people who stop by say it's "the best movie theater popcorn they've ever had." We even had a family that came over one night and bought a whole ton for their family movie that night. Ours survived and showed VERY good results, although we have more than 100-200 games now. Seems to be very well built and durable, it's not super light or flimsy. That weight is quite a lot, but it just means they used ALL METAL STRUCTURE. The only plastic I noticed is on the kettle reset handles and kettle lid. That's all, the rest is metal and glass. I think that's a great price for the quality you get. The only reasons for the 4-star rating were the kettle's odd design of closure and lack of vents for steam to escape.
