At first I thought they worked well (but I agree with the comments that they can be very sticky and stick to hair like chewing gum). My daughter had another set of tubes put in today and the doctor removed a clump of putty from those plugs in each of her ears. During the time she was using them an alarming amount had accumulated in her ears and some even started to grow skin where removing it caused her a bit of constant pain (however I expect this will wear off) . quickly as the wound heals). Use with caution!
