To compare, I bought 4 pairs of Keen women's size 9 closed-toe sandals. I chose the black/steel gray SOLR HighPerformance Sport closed toe water sandals, the Newport Retro-w Sport sandals with original tie dye, the black/neutral gray Venice H2 sandals and the Ravine H2 black/dawn pink. I am planning a trip to Portugal for my vacation and wanted to be able to reduce the amount of shoes I was packing. I have a pair of Keen hiking shoes and I already know how much I love them. I wanted something that would last as well as hiking shoes but weigh less than tennis shoes for long walks. I wanted something I could wear to the beach and get in the water. I wanted something casual that could go with some of my summer dresses. Finally, I was hoping that if the shoe is waterproof, it can also be used as a shower shoe. In summary, I am looking for a shoe that rules all: hiking shoes, tennis shoes, sandals, water shoes, shower slippers and casual summer shoes. I know it's a tough task, but just think how much space I'll be saving in my bag. Additional limitations affecting my decision are that I have an AAA foot and AAAA heel. The Keen hiking boots I wear are a little wide and a little short but they fit better than any other boots I've found which makes me happy. I can add insoles to boots, but not to sandals. I also broke my ankle in several places before and had multiple surgeries. I feel better in shoes that have a heel that is at least slightly higher than the toe. I can also be tender just under the bone on the inside of my ankle. I liked the rainbow color of the shoes with the tie color. It was the only model to offer a rainbow. I have to tell you that I wanted the tie-dye painted shoes to be a winner just because of the color. Some other models offer many colors to choose from but no rainbow. I was looking forward to trying the Ravine H2 on. This is the only one of the four that has an adjustable heel strap. I have not had adjustable heeled sandals, but my husband has several pairs of adjustable heeled sandals and loves them. I was hoping this would help make the shoe more secure and not slipping. The adjustable strap sits well on the heel. It was the first shoe I tried on and if it was the only shoe I tried on I would love it. In the end, the adjustable strap was one of the main reasons I didn't choose it. I was fat and hard. The remaining 3 models had very soft and comfortable heel straps. The SOLR sandals look like they could be adjusted in the heel, but they aren't. The Ravine H2 is the only shoe with an adjustable heel. If this is important to you, then this is your choice. Mind you, it wasn't uncomfortable, it just wasn't that comfortable, and in the end I didn't feel like it offered the benefits I needed over comfort. The next big question I looked for was if I could adequately secure the shoe. so it doesn't slip on my leg. I tried on a pair of very thin socks and I will most likely wear them with socks on the street but not on the beach. The Ravine H2 and Venice H2 didn't fit as snugly around the foot as I would have liked. I think for an average foot they would be great. Both the SOLR and the Newport Retro fit very well around my foot and lace up much better. That being said, I think both the Ravine H2 and Venice H2 have more room to breathe, but they're all pretty open. The Newport Retro ended up rubbing right into my ankle scar, which immediately ruled it out. My favorite couple was out due to an old injury. Both H2s didn't feel comfortable enough on my feet, and the Ravine H2's heel strap wasn't as comfortable. I've been wearing SOLR sandals for a few days now and they are great. I can loosen the laces (elastic band) and wear them around the house as slip-ons or tighten them up for a proper walk. When loosened they are sure to be very comfortable on a medium sized foot and I could see that a wide foot is comfortable. The neoprene fabric used in shoes is very stretchy. There are a few features that I missed that were present in all shoes. Everyone was comfortable. I'm sure the Newport Retro will fit anyone without the scars in that particular spot. While the Ravine H2 was comfortable, I liked the SOLR better. The soles all had different treads, but all had...micro-perforations that aren't visible until the sole is flexed and then opens up to allow for better flexibility. I've looked at the stitching and connection points on all of them and they seem to be really well done. I give them all 5 stars. I hope this has helped you and you don't have to buy four pairs of shoes. All models are excellent choices.
