Review on 🔧 OTC 7248 C-Frame Press: Superior Tool for U-Joints, Brake Anchor Pins, Wheel Studs, and Ball Joints by Kurt Bravo

Bought this tool to replace the front axle U-joints on my Jeep TJ. The local parts store didn't have one to borrow and the guy didn't even know what I was asking for. A friend wanted me to buy the Harbor version, but I'd rather invest in something high quality made in the USA. The tool was packed in a cardboard box wrapped in thick paper. I was surprised at how strong this thing was when I pulled it out of the box. Clamping part made in the USA, straight on the side. Glad to see it. It was a little awkward pulling out the U-joints, which I attribute largely to the fact that I didn't have a vise to insert either the tool or axle. I had to use a 36" chisel bar on the bolt to knock out the old hinges, but the tool itself didn't seem to flinch. Then I was careless when installing a new one and didn't realize the needle bearing fell into the cap, but this tool had no trouble crushing the bearing and breaking the cap! You will need to pay attention to the open end of the receiver and if necessary readjust with a hammer once it is slightly tightened to line up the bearing cap hole. not exactly cheap for something I'll rarely use, but I'd rather invest in tools and learn to do the job myself than pay someone.
