I love the look of these tiny addressable lights and had high hopes for their use in holiday lighting, particularly in places where the bulkiness of traditional 12mm pixels would not be aesthetically pleasing. Pretty. However, the claim that they are IP65 waterproof is misleading at best. Of the 18 wires I had attached to three trees in the yard, more than half failed during the first downpour they encountered.* I turned off the power as soon as I saw that and let them dry before I plugged them back in, which showed the two threads died forever. Not amused. When they say "waterproof," they actually mean "can withstand a brief crash with a watering bottle when used on your houseplants." Learn from my mistake and don't push it.* To be clear, JST connectors are NOT waterproof. You need to protect them from moisture. I coated mine with dielectric grease and placed them in airtight containers.
