I haven't tested the water to make sure it works but you can see the light comes on when you turn on the water spout because the water inlet and outlet connectors are lit , when UV light is on. The flow switch works great and the installation was pretty easy. I added this as the final tier (after the mineral tier) to my system. Make sure you have an available 110 volt outlet for the installation, or use a universal outlet. I had to use multiple outlets as I only have two outlets under the sink, plus a dishwasher, waste chute and now an ultra violet too. But it works fine. It doesn't seem to draw too much power as I had no problem with all three devices running on a 15 amp circuit at the same time. I never turned off the switch. It does not alter the taste of the water as it only floods the water with UV light to kill pathogens (bacteria, viruses, etc.).
