Having used food thermometers for over 47 years (I served in army catering for over 20 years and am now retired), I have had the opportunity to work with many types of thermometers, such as food thermometers . Start first with simple thermometers with a scale on top. Now that technology has advanced I have used many of the new digital types. One thing I didn't like about the dial-up probe was that the dial's protective case had a tendency to melt since it was clear plastic. Then some newer digital sensor thermometers were difficult to wash, and after a while, even with careful washing, water would seep into the thermometer, and the battery or digital components could be damaged and stop working. I stumbled across the BREEKET 2 in 1 Instant Read Meat Thermometer and read the product description and reviews before purchasing (yes, my last digital thermometer broke!). Got a new thermometer and tested it. Everything seems to be as described. As with any electronic device, according to the warning not to be soaked, submerged in water or washed in the dishwasher, it is relatively easy to clean. Just use a soapy rag or sponge. It seems accurate and my wife especially likes it as the temperature display is large and she can easily read the temperature reading. Haven't tried using a wire probe on my Char-Broil yet, but I'm sure it will work just fine! I might be tempted to use a wired probe in the turkey while it's roasting) so basically we only use it to check the readiness of chicken thighs and breasts and when we're roasting turkey breast in the oven.
