Review on New Balance FuelCell Propel Running Sports & Fitness for Running by Matt Tito

Revainrating 5 out of 5

My new favorite wide shoes to replace Kinvara 9

Propel V2 a good replacement for Kinvara #9. I used to be a big fan of the Saucony Kinvara 9 - they are very comfortable, springy and perfect for my wide feet. However, each iteration after 9 got narrower and stiffer, to the point where the Kinvara's #11 toe box was 0.5 inches narrower than the #9, causing cramps and rubbing against the arch of my foot on longer runs. . The same width as the Kinvara #9, although not as springy and with a higher drop (I would have preferred a lower drop), the Propel V2 also feels longer than the Kivara's at the cost of a premium weight thanks to the thicker sole. "I still don't know what to do with the heel and laces. It's been a week now and I'm still trying to fix them. Depending on how tight you lace them, the shoes either feel loose or too tight, but not "just right" On the other hand, I've only run two long runs - faster 16 miles and then 32 miles (50 km) in the rain in a somewhat "free" mode. No blisters , no discomfort, nothing (I put some Aquaphor on the top of my feet just in case) I suspect they just "feel" loose, but in fact they are perfectly locked in.

Pros
  • nice little thing
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
