I've had this drive installed for about a week and give it a solid three stars. On my computer (PIII 500, 368 MB RAM, Win98SE) I had no problem burning error-free CDs with the Media Jukebox. With this setup, the drive works as advertised and writes at 16x with no buffering issues (I bought it because of the decent built-in buffer). BUT be prepared because this is the loudest turntable I have ever heard. I ripped the CD out of the drive (which is located in the tower case on the carpeted floor) and during the process I encountered a significant vibration on my desk (about two feet away) and a noise that made my wife jump off the platter jump up lower floor. very worried expression. The loose CDs at the top of the tower began to move and fall. In fact, it was almost comical. However, the drive is mostly silent during burning, so I leave it on for easy writing and use a different drive (Hitachi DVD) for all other CD reading needs.
